Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 5, 2026
1. Overview
SeeFood is a fun hotdog-detection app inspired by the Silicon Valley TV series. We are committed to your privacy. This policy explains what data we access, how we use it, and your rights.
2. Data We Collect
We collect minimal data to operate the service. Specifically:
- Camera / Gallery images – accessed when you choose to take or select a photo. Primary hotdog detection is processed entirely on-device using Google ML Kit. Optionally, if the experimental AI Recipe feature is enabled, the image and your device OS may be securely uploaded to our remote server for generating recipe suggestions. Uploaded images are not permanently stored.
- IP Address – when connecting to our remote server, your IP address is temporarily processed solely for security and rate-limiting purposes.
- No account required – we do not ask for your name, email, or any personal identifier.
- No analytics or tracking – we do not use any third-party analytics, ads, or tracking SDKs.
3. On-Device & Remote Processing
Basic image analysis for hotdog detection is performed locally on your device using Google ML Kit Image Labeling. If you interact with the AI Recipe Brain feature, the application securely interacts with our remote Python backend to generate recipes based on the detected labels. We transiently process the images and your device operating system version to optimize the results, after which the data is discarded. Detected food labels may be transmitted to third-party AI services (e.g., Groq) to dynamically generate recipe suggestions.
4. Permissions We Request
- CAMERA – to take a photo for hotdog detection.
- READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE – to select a photo from your gallery.
These permissions are used solely for the hotdog detection feature.
5. Sharing
When you tap Share, the photo and result text are shared using your device's native share menu. We do not control who you share with.
6. Children's Privacy
SeeFood is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13.
7. Third-Party Libraries & Services
- Google ML Kit – on-device image labeling.
- Groq AI – cloud-based LLM provider for AI Recipe generation.
- share_plus – native share functionality.
- Google Fonts – typography.
8. Changes to This Policy
If we update this policy, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
